Dermal Fillers

This is a CPD (18 credits) accredited and certified course.

On this course you will learn how to safely perform dermal fillers.

 

What is dermal filler

Face and lip fillers (dermal fillers) are substances injected into your face. They fill lines and wrinkles and add volume to areas such as your lips or cheeks.

 

Fillers are not permanent. How long they last depends on things like the type of filler and where it’s injected. They usually last between 6 and 18 months.

Entry criteria

  • Medical professional registered to a medical body (e.g NMC, GMC, GDC, GPhC etc.)
    • Level 3 NVQ in Beauty Therapy
    • 6 Months experience in advanced beauty treatment (e.g SPMU, Microblading, Micro needling) and A&P Level 3
    • 12 months experience in advanced beauty treatments (e.g SPMU, Microblading, Micro needling)
  • The minimum age for entry to the course is 18 years.
  • Please note you will not need a prescriber for this product

Learning Objectives

This is an intensive 2-day foundation course, you will be able to:

  • Understanding of fillers
  • List of materials required
  • Understanding facial features, face shapes, ethnic variations
  • Understanding the ageing effect, bone, fat, muscle loss
  • Facial anatomy, muscle, fat, arteries, and venous flow
  • Different techniques
  • Treating different area

Risk factors

  • Contra-indication, medical consultation
  • Contra-action
  • Complications
  • Treating patients legally and ethically.
  • Understand the signs of body dysmorphia, and how to deal with patients who may need to be refused treatment.

Learning Outcomes

The course will be taught by an expert in their field who provides you with the highest standards of training at the academy

  • Physical examination skills/clinical judgement
  • Demonstrates understanding of indications for treatment, A&P, procedural technique
  • Obtains informed consent
  • Demonstrates appropriate preparation
  • Demonstrates safe delivery of proposed procedure
  • Technical ability
  • Post procedure management
  • Communication skills
  • Professionalism
  • Overall ability to perform the procedure competently
  • Learn about follow up appointments for your patients.
  • How to gain consent
  • Insurance and other business aspects
  • Ordering from pharmacy/stock

We will assess you on your consultation techniques, medical history of patients, physical examination and judgment, your knowledge of A & P, procedural techniques, safe delivery of proposed treatment, technical ability, post procedure management, and your professionalism skills.

 

Your trainer will work with you to help you meet the required standard for each of these criteria. Delegates not able to meet one or more of the criteria will be asked to re-sit their training on a different date at additional cost.

Theory will be sent, pre study is required prior to practical sessions, as well as an assignment.

 

You will need to sit an internal exam on your first day of arrival of your practical day
